Free digital toolkit for charities launched

A new toolkit has been released to help charities get to grips with digital strategies.

The Charity Digital Toolkit covers best practice, expert insight and practical tips. It is the sequel to the Charity Social Media Toolkit, produced following a report that revealed many UK charities are struggling with the digital landscape.

Both toolkits and the report were produced by Skills Platform, the charity Skills for Health’s platform listing training opportunities in the health and charity sectors.  

The Charity Digital Toolkit is free and relevant to anyone working in the charity sector, from frontline staff through to experienced digital managers, senior leaders and trustees.

It covers the basics of digital, including mapping the audience and developing digital strategies, understanding the benefits of different marketing channels and measuring success. Other topics are leadership, fundraising, governance and risk.  

The toolkit also looks ahead to digital trends which will disrupt the sector and reshape the way supporters behave and engage with charities. 

Charities and key influencers have been involved in developing the toolkit and have shared their own experiences and insights. Marie Curie share the story of their own digital transformation, and reveal how tapping into digital can reap rewards for fundraising and income generation.    Breast Cancer Care offer advice on the skills organisations need to get digital right and how to train up staff if there is a skills gap in this area.
