Treetops Hospice Care in Derbyshire is celebrating a decade of support from the Derby and Nottingham branches of Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank.

The bank partnered with Hospice UK in 2008, leading to 124 local hospices directly benefitting over the last 10 years.

One of these hospices is Treetops Hospice Care in Derbyshire. Over the years the Derby and Nottingham branches of Yorkshire Bank have given donations of over £11,000, and dozens of employees have volunteered for the hospice.

Employees of the bank have undertaken many activities for Treetops, including volunteering in the hospice grounds and gardens by gardening, weeding, painting benches and moving sheds, female employees taking part in the Treetops Starlight Strut (formerly known as the Moonlight Walk), collecting donations at an employee’s wedding day, a team of non-cyclist staff completing the 172 mile Coast 2 Coast bike ride, and a staff team taking part in the annual Charity Golf Day.

Jennifer Sheehy, head of fundraising at Treetops said:

“The relationship with Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks has been very special. For ten years they have been part of Treetops – supporting our events, volunteering at the hospice and raising a fantastic amount of money. They are a remarkable team – thank you!”

Across the country, over £6 million has been raised by Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank employees for hospices, and they have benefitted from over 40,000 volunteer hours generated by the partnership.

The money raised by employees is matched by the company, with 50 per cent of the additional funds going to the local hospice and the other 50 per cent going to Hospice UK. Therefore when a branch raises £100 for a local hospice, the hospice will receive £150 in total, while Hospice UK receives £50.

David Duffy, CEO of Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, said:

“I am delighted that together with Hospice UK we have reached such an incredible milestone raising over £6 million for such a vital cause.”

“I am especially proud of the thousands of hours of volunteering our employees have given to hospices up and down the country. That in itself is a wonderful achievement."

Tracey Bleakley, CEO of Hospice UK, said:

“We are so grateful for this partnership with Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks and all that it has achieved. People have given money, time and effort, but most of all they have used their passion and energy to show what can be done locally and nationally to help others.”

“The world has changed a lot in 10 years, but thanks to this support for hospices from Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, for many people the care they received at the end of their lives has been transformed.”
