Nominations have opened for this year’s 3rd Sector Care Awards, with Hospice UK’s Director of Improvement and Transformation Claire Henry judging in the End of Life Care category.

The awards were founded in 2014 to recognise organisations, teams and individuals who have excelled in their services to the non-profit sector. Categories include leadership, citizenship, technology and compassion.

Last year two hospices were among the nominations: Thames Hospice’s trustee Richard Goss in the  Beyond Governance category, and St Catherine’s Hospice’s Medical Director Patricia Brayden for the Compassion Award.

Claire Henry will be one of the judges for this year’s End of Life Care award, which has previously been won by Manchester’s dementia care service EachStep Blackley, and Tunbridge Wells care home Mount Ephraim House, operated by Greensleeves Homes Trust.

Commenting on the awards, Henry said:

“These awards are a wonderful opportunity to showcase innovative projects and partnerships in the end of life care sector and also shine a light on those individuals who have excelled in their roles and gone the extra mile for patients and their families.”

“There is some fantastic work going in hospices to transform end of life care and I hope as many hospices as possible will put forward their nominations for these awards.”

The awards ceremony will take place at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square in December 2017.
