The benefits of benchmarking and training for hospice retailing

In this advertorial ahead of the Hospice UK Retail Conference on April 27, Eproductive explain how the services they develop for the charity sector are directly benefitting hospice retail.

At Eproductive we know that comparing performance is a vital part of charity retail management. To help you understand better how your shops are performing against the market average we provide a free-to-use automated benchmarking service.

Why benchmark?

Having targets and comparing weekly figures is invaluable in helping you manage, adjust and improve your performance. Benchmarking provides the opportunity for the sharing of key information from the sector. As for any sector, it is important charity retailers maintain awareness of the wider picture and do so on a regular basis.

Weekly ‘Flash Sales’

‘Flash Sales’ is a free service offering a weekly comparison of your like-for-like sales of donated goods so that you can compare your charity against the wider sector.

Available to all charity retailers weekly, ‘Flash Sales’ information is presented in a simple email that is delivered automatically. Every week, charities with more than 4,100 charity shops between them provide sales information to Eproductive which is then shared anonymously to enable participating charities to see the bigger picture.

The service is simple to use, helpful and free. Once signed up, input your sales figures securely every Monday and the automated benchmarking email will be sent to you at the close of business that day.

The more charities that participate, the more meaningful the data is for everyone.

Gift Aid Training

As you will no doubt know, charities must not only train volunteers and staff on Gift Aid but also be able to prove to HMRC that training has taken place. Over the past year, 1,800 charity shops have signed up to Eproductive’s cost effective, online Gift Aid Training Package. In addition to HMRC compliance the training helps build confidence in Retail Gift Aid. The package includes animated online training modules, certificates of achievement for volunteers and staff and management reports – all for as little as £20 per shop per year.

It works for all, regardless of the Gift Aid software used and, like our ‘Flash Sales’ service, is available to everyone in the sector whether existing clients of Eproductive, or not.

Eproductive is charity retail’s trusted partner, providing a range of services including EPR Touch, the only EPOS system developed exclusively for the sector. We are proud to sponsor the Hospice UK Retail Conference for 2017 - please do drop by our exhibition stand on the 27th April.
