Services and beds will soon be expanded for the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County following a $400,000 funding announcement Monday by the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care.

The funds will be used to provide two additional beds that will support up to 40 more patients each year. The two new beds will be added to the eight existing beds at the local hospice.

The ministry’s funds will also be combined with community donations to renovate the dining room, kitchen and sunroom areas.

John Fraser, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, made the announcement which is part of a province-wide initiative to assist 2,000 additional people and their families with end-of-life or palliative care.
