A report on the state of palliative care in Australia has been published, following a year-long enquiry.

The report by The Senate Community Affairs Committee into palliative care makes 38 recommendations, covering

  • palliative care funding
  • education for health professionals
  • education for the community
  • the need for improved access to information about services
  • supporting people to die in the place of their choice.

The recommendations also focus on the needs of specific groups such as Indigenous Australians, CALD communities and children.
