The National Association for Homecare and Hospice has developed nationwide campaigns for home care and hospice in the United States – the theme for the hospice component is: ‘taking care and compassion to the next level.’

The month aims to honour healthcare workers from the variety of disciplines who provide hospice care.  It is estimated that over 114,000 professionals and hundreds of thousands of volunteers provide comforting and supportive hospice services to approximately 1.5 million patients and their families in an estimated 3,700 hospice programmes throughout the United States.

Events are planned across the country to raise awareness in local communities about the essential role of hospice in end of life care.
