‘Life at Your Doorstep’

A programme to support patients and families where they want to be.
Pain Relief and Palliative Care Society, Hyderabad dedicates ‘Life at Your Doorstep’, a home-based palliative care program to people living with advanced- incurable- illnesses by launching the 2nd unit and inaugurating the new van in February 2013.The 2nd home care unit is operated jointly with Rosina Trust (supported by Alumni of Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad- 1972 batch).
The programme, ‘Life at Your Doorstep’ was initiated by the Pain Relief and Palliative Care Society in 2008 in collaboration with the MNJ Institute of Oncology & Regional Cancer Centre. This comprehensive home care program offers support to patients and families struggling with advanced and terminal illness in the city of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The service is provided by a team of well-trained and compassionate nurses and counsellors, guided by experienced palliative care physicians.
The dedicated home care team not only attends to physical problems such as severe pain, breathlessness, and malignant wounds, but also provides skilled psychosocial and spiritual support.
Educating and preparing the family for probable changes at the end of life is one of the key roles of the trained home care team. To date, the program has cared for over 1000 patients and made more than 5000 home visits.
