CareSearch launches Residential Aged Care Hub
12 October 2012
On 12 October Australia’s Ambassador for Ageing, Noeline Brown, will officially launch the CareSearch Residential Aged Care (RAC) Hub, coinciding with World Hospice Day and its 2012 theme, ‘Living to the end: Palliative care for an ageing population.’
The RAC Hub is an online resource built to help residential aged care staff provide quality care for people at the end of life. Funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing, the Hub will be a major dedicated source of peer-reviewed, evidence-based palliative care information for residential aged care facility staff. It will also include pages written for residents, their families and friends.
The resources are authored by aged care professionals and academics, with topics informed by consultation with stakeholder groups, care workers and lifestyle coordinators.
The RAC Hub has been welcomed by Palliative Care Australia’s CEO Dr Yvonne Luxford. Dr Luxford said: “PCA welcomes this new resource, which we believe will help improve the palliative care evidence base for those working in residential aged care, and the quality of information available to residents, their families and carers.”
