New journal article: Advocating for palliative care for an ageing population

08 October 2012

The September issue of International Journal of Palliative Nursing features an article by Claire Morris of the Worldwide Palliative Care Alliance entitled: 'Advocating for palliative care for an ageing population: living to the end.'

The publication of this article is particularly timely, as it comes just before World Hospice and Palliative Care Day on the 13th of October. Events will be taking place around the world to highlight the rights of older people and the need for better access to quality care and improved quality of life throughout the life course. Working together with healthy ageing advocates is vital to achieving this vision.

The article deals with issues specific to palliative care for older people and highlights opportunities for advocacy in bringing about improved access to palliative care for older people.
